TOUCHLINE WORKFLOW

Make a clear animated tactics clip

Build a short explanation that players can follow, then keep an editable version and share an image or video.

01

Begin with the decision

Choose one thing the clip needs to explain: where a player moves, when a pass is available, or how a group covers space. Remove players that do not help explain that decision. Use the team colour controls to distinguish the sides and double-click a player to change its number. Add a ball so viewers can identify the starting point without reading a long caption.

02

Use drawings consistently

Pick your own convention and explain it to your audience. For example, use solid arrows for passes, dotted arrows for runs and shaded areas for space you want to exploit or protect. These are teaching choices, not automatic meanings assigned by the board. Select a line or arrow to reveal its grey curve handle; pull opposite the bend you want. Keep the number of drawings low enough that the players remain easy to see.

03

Capture the sequence

Capture a slide for the starting picture. Move players and the ball into the next situation and capture another. Repeat for the outcome. To change an existing slide, load its thumbnail, make your changes, and choose Update selected slide. Capture slide adds another step; Update changes the selected step. Use the transition selector to slow the sequence if the decision happens quickly.

04

Add short captions and curved runs

Choose Text, set its size and colour, and click the pitch to add an explanation. Drag a caption to move it and double-click it to edit. Keep each caption focused on one instruction. For a curved player or ball route, capture two slides with different positions, select the player or ball and pull the grey handle opposite the curve. Update the relevant slide after editing its contents.

05

Save and share deliberately

Use Save clip to name the sequence and choose a folder. In My clips, each saved clip has a folder dropdown for moving it later. The library stays in that browser on that device; it does not follow you to another computer. Export an editable JSON backup for safekeeping and use Import to reopen it. Choose image export for the current board, or video export for the animated slides. Check the exported result before sharing it, especially the timing and readability of captions.
